The CERLAC high-performance centers Laias and Arnoia received for the first time Spain and Belgium canoeing national teams. Here they trained for preparing the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In the first phase of the training, from June 25 to July 9, both teams trained together in the Arnoia centre, you can have a look to the pictures accompanying this report. The second training involving only the Spanish team, from July 17 to August 5 and it took place in the Laias center. Just after this last training the Spanish Olympic team will travel to Brazil to compete in this discipline in the Lagoa Freitas facilities. After talking with the coaches of both teams, they told us that they were very satisfied with the conditions that they fund in both centers, so they plan to come back next seasons. Meanwhile Cerla director, Antonio Marques, expressed the wish that the training done in our centers contribute to get the maximum performance for the paddlers during the competitions in August.

HENLEY ROWING CLUB prepared in Cerlac the championships that will take place in their own country
The English team HENLEY ROWING CLUB, made up of 14 rowers prepared in our facilities their last training camp in view of the championships that will take place in their own country during this summer. The staff expressed that the targets set of the “stage” have been more than fulfilled; mainly due to the optimal training conditions and the weather they fund in our training centre and thermal spa. Another success for CERLAC.
CERLAC traveled to Varese, Italy, to participate in a meeting with the Australian Rowing team
In June a delegation of INORDE and members of CERLAC traveled to Varese, Italy, to participate in a meeting with the Australian Rowing team which had in July 2015 a training camp in Laias. The aim of the visit was to learn about the European training center that the Australian team uses in Garivate (Varese), the rowing Federation is contemplating the construction of a new center in Europe and Ourense could be one of the places hosting such infrastructure. They also took the opportunity to prepare the next team training camp at the Laias rowing centre for the next years.
More than 350 rowers used in April the Arnoia Rowing Training Center for their Easter holidays
During the month of April, several teams of UK colleges and universities completed their Easter holidays stage at the Arnoia and Laias Rowing Training Centers. More than 350 rowers used the Cerlac Facilities to prepare the next competitions in their home country.

Collaboration between CERLAC and the Spanish Rowing Federation
The president of the council of Ourense , Manuel Baltar , received at the Provincial Pazo visit of the president of the Spanish Federation of Rowing , Fernando Climent, who was accompanied by Luis Maria Lasurtegui , vice president of the federal entity , both medalists with the Spanish selection at the 1984 Summer Olympics
Baltar and Climent reviewed the possibility of establishing lines of collaboration between the County Council of Ourense and the Spanish Rowing Federation to allow further work in the specialization of Ourense in ‘sports Hydrotherapy”.

The last 5th of April the English school Borlase began its training camp in Cerlac, Borlase is one of many colleges practicing rowing in Britain. After the first contact made with the team’s head coach, his feeling was very positive, highlighting the quality of the Miño River with a very quiet and still water and the efficiency of the services provided in the hotel Laias. By the way, after the first training done in the Laias center they booked new dates for April 2016.
